"Da Paypay" is inspired by my childhood trips to the Philippines, where every Sunday in church my mom, Lola, and the church titan would unfold their hand fans to cool down in the tropical heat. Those moments stayed with me and became the heart of this design.
The fan features interpretations of the Filipino sun, including blue suns inspired by the blue of the Philippine flag, representing peace and truth - values that continue to guide me.
I chose to create this as a clack fan to reflect another part of my identity. The clack fan has become an iconic accessory in rave, ballroom, and LGBTQ+ nightlife culture, where the sharp snap is a gesture of presence and expression.
Da Paypay brings together heritage, community, and self-expression - folding my Filipino roots and queen culture into one piece.
